On metal roofs we treat any surface rust before priming. On tile roofs we replace broken tiles as we go so the finished roof is sound as well as sharp. Roof painting is one of the highest-impact jobs on an older home: from the street it reads as a new roof, at a fraction of replacement cost. It also seals the surface and sheds water the way the roof did when it was new.
